I am studying computer science and I recently discovered in my methodologies class that 65 % of projects with more than 1 million lines of code 1 mloc get cancelled and that on average 30 % of 'large' software projects get cancelled.I recent example of a BIG project being cancelled is guardian.co.uk society 2011 sep 22 nhs it project abandonedI was wondering what legal aggrements and devices software companies use to 'get round' the fact that so many projects get cancelled...I assume they don't refund the money but equally I can't imagine how businesses can justify investing so much money on software projects if the contract say " There is a 30 % cahnce your project may be cancelled and you won't get your money back " Anyone work in the industry who can shed some light?

Hi. I just randomly decided I wanted to do some game creation in flash, but have no knowledge of flash what so ever. I have done some Java and C and such, so I am not a complete newbie at programming, and am sure I'll be able to pick Flash up, but I have no idea what software to get.
