I finally got my first ext. hard drive.It's a HP Personal Media drive that fits into a bay on mt HP media center desktop.I know it's expensive,but I like the no clutter or cables on my desk.It's got 1 TB capacity and has Roxio backup software which I don't like,the interface is confusing and hard to read so I found Nero Backup & Burn.Any opinions on this?P.S.I'm terrible at locating files,scheduling back ups and worst of all restoring from a backup.My files are a big mess,some can't be restored cause their in a wrong .bin or something.so I need help

Back Up Software: Acronis True Image Home 2009 vs. Seagate's Backup Software?
I have always used Acronis True Image Home 2009 to make images of my harddrive in case of harddrive failure.However, I recently purchased a Seagate Desk 1TB external harddrive, and it came pre installed with Seagate's own backup and utility software.My question I am tempted to use Seagate's software because I like how integrated it is, and I also like how it was specifically made for this drive. I mean, millions of seagate users must use this software successfully, so I have faith in it.As for Acronis, I have always backed up with it, but I have never RESTORED with it so, I have no real proof it would work well.On the other hand, Acronis True Image Home 2009 has amazingly good reviews, which is why I purchased it. It is a $50 software package, where as the Seagate one came FREE with a $100 harddrive. So, I'm not sure if Acronis is BETTER, or if Seagate just gives away a realy good package for free. So, which should I use? Which is better? Does the seagate one have as many features? Basically, any help with these 2 software packages would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.Oh I forgot to mention The Seagate Software is called, " Seagate Manager." Oh, so Seagate offers a version of TrueImage for Seagate drives? Fantastic I never knew this However, is there any difference making it a " seagate software," or should I just stick to using the regular Acronis True Image Home 2009?
When I put my backed up software onto my new hard drive, will Microsoft be loaded again?
my hp laptop went in for service a month ago and i have it back now. before it went in, i backed up everything docs, pictures, software etc. because they needed to replace the hard drive. at the repair centre, they backed all my stuff up aswell, but now when i click on documents created in microsoft office, it says it can't read the file... im goin to put in the backed up disk so will microsoft work again?? I forgot to ask whether or not you can back up software programs downloads such as, the CCleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, RealPlayer, etc?I am going to have to reformat my computer, because of a virus malware called " Data Restore," and I really don't want to lose all of my stuff that's on it.
