Should I open computer business at home ?
I don't have much experience. I fix friends computers here and there. I went to school for IT and got my a certification. I really love computers and always fix my own. but I don't have that much experience ...have been around computers only almost 2 years but I would like to try my own business and charge people like $30 40 job. what does it take??

In the computer business, why is it necessary to constantly take new exams even if one has the work experience?
My husband is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.. He took 6 exams in 1998 .. of course technology moves on .. he is 50 and right now he is in the middle of taking the same exams but advanced to the technology.. for Microsoft 2003 which is still in use at present.. he has passed 2 of the 6 exams.. that means 4 more.. Soon it will be time to learn the latest computer techniques.. Microsoft 2008.. that means forever having to take exams. He can design a new network if the company would ask for that.. as he has the experience but experience alone is not enough.. they also want people to have a certificate. At present he is working as a contractor... it's a government linked job he does in the computer sector but his job most likely will end on Dec. 6th. unless they will prolong the contract which they have done several times due to the elections we had here in Canada recently. I also wonder how hard is it to find a new job with an agency doing contract work as a Microsoft Systems Engineer once one is age 50 or plus.. is the experience an advantage or is the age a hindrance? I am just worried and here in Canada for everyone who does contract work of that kind as my husband does.. they get paid in full, meaning taxes are not deducted..when he gets paid bi weekly.. that means he will have to pay back thousands of dollars in taxes by April.. In Europe contract workers get their taxes automatically deducted .. this is a pain .. to have to do ones own taxes and to work out all the money one has to pay back. which is close to $ 12.000. If this job ends, do you think it will be hard for him to find a new contract job, he seems to enjoy contract work. Plus he wants to get his exams done... which seem to be a ''must have'' the 1998 version is no longer sufficient.. and of the 2003 Microsoft version he passed 2 out of the 6 exams.. this could take quite a while to pass all exams. Permanent jobs are not that easily available and he is used to earning a certain amount of money.. and not prepared understandably to work for less than he's been earning so far. That makes it harder to find employment
Is it worth starting a computer business?
i've always been very knowledgable with computers and all my friends and family ask me for computer help when they need it, sometimes hours worth of work...so i think its time i made money off of it.. is this type of industry able to b a career for what i want to do... repairs, troubleshootings, buildin custom comps. ect... any input would be great thanks alot Eric

Need an advice on Retail Computer Business?
Since December is near I am planning to open a retail computer business Both In Store & Online . My supplier can provide me with Refurbished Laptops, Desktops and Towers with Pentium 4 technology in Desktops& Towers and Intel Centrino Mobile technology in laptops.My prices are extremely cheap but my business depends on mostly out dated technology.Is it worth while investing money in Refurbished business or should I invest in purchase of New Laptops Refurbished with New Technology. The latest technology I am getting is Intel Core2Duo laptop in Dell Latitude D620 and as per my survey this particular laptop didn't do well in the market.Moreover my main market is USA and Canada.And as Christmas is near what would you guys prefer to gift in computer technology to your loved ones?Also what kind of standard warranty you guys would like to get on Refurbished units.Your input will be highly beneficial for me.Thanks in advance
Renting Computers Business, Pirated Software?
If I had a business that dealt with renting computers to home users, would I be liable if the customer renting the computer installed pirated software? I would be formatting or ghosting each computer before and after they are returned.
